All that changes when she meets Alex, one of the rebels against the cure who pretends to be a law enforcement officer while he retrieves information for the other rebels behind the "resistance".
The central character, Lena, is convinced just like everyone else that love is a disease, and can't wait until she finally turns 18 and can have her procedure. At age 18, everyone is required to undergo a procedure developed by the government that robs each person of the ability to love. The premise revolves around a dystopian world in which love (or deliria nervosa) is considered a disease. Delirium is a television series based off the successful Young Adult book trilogy by Lauren Oliver with the same title.
